Dhangadhi: In a resolute stance, Nepali Congress (NC) general-secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has underscored the pivotal importance of prioritizing development and good governance as the central focus of the party's agenda.

Speaking at an event during the 'Congress Dialogue in Community Programme' held in Dhangadhi today, Thapa emphasized the imperative for the Nepali Congress to take a leading role in fostering consensus among political parties on crucial issues such as combating corruption and instituting good governance. He called for a national dialogue and debate on development matters to pave the way for collective action in addressing these pressing concerns.

Thapa stressed that the party's agenda should transcend the confines of the current year, extending its vision towards resolving contemporary challenges. He proposed designating the year 2081 BS as a period of introspection and rejuvenation for the party, aiming for its purification and revitalization.

Furthermore, General-Secretary Thapa advocated for the NC's unwavering focus on its core agenda, steering clear of undue preoccupation with governmental affairs. He expressed confidence that insights garnered during the Dialogue sessions would serve as valuable inputs for shaping the party's future policies and strategies.

Addressing the issue of factionalism within the party, Thapa acknowledged its existence as a consequence of flawed organizational processes. He urged immediate measures to mitigate factionalism, emphasizing the urgency of restoring unity and cohesion within the party ranks.
